About The Position

This position is responsible for providing quality, proficient and professional laboratory services in a critical access hospital and outpatient setting. The MLT/MLS position collects and processes specimens using appropriate technique, performs testing and verifies assay/analyzer performance. This position is responsible for testing in all of the following areas: hematology, coagulation, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine. Additional responsibilities include documentation and communication of laboratory results, and assay/analyzer maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of associate degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, required.
  • Qualified to work in a high complex laboratory, required.
  • Laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT. If not certified at time of hire, must acquire certification within 12 months, required.
  • At least one year of experience required.
  • Demonstrates OMC's behavioral standards and values in daily work.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to use time efficiently.
  • Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members and co-workers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer systems including EMR, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates awareness of organizational goals/strategic plan in all daily work environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality per policy.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team.
  • Ability to solve problems efficiently.

Responsibilities
