About The Position

RiverView Health has an opening for a full-time (72 hours every 2 weeks) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). The MLS or MLT is responsible for pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of testing, follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLTs, ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met, recognizes safety hazards and complies with all safety practices and protocols, collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment, performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods and collects and manages samples of blood and other fluids from patients.

Requirements

  • MLS - Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences or equivalent required. MLT – Associate Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent required.
  • Current national certification through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible is required.
  • Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 6 months of employment.
  • Current American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not certified upon hire training will be provided and certification must be obtained within 4 months from date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years’ healthcare experience in any field
  • 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in a generalist role across multiple disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.)
  • 2+ years’ experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic or similar)
  • Collaboration and teamwork, supporting team goals and contributes positively.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, safety standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, COLA, CAP).
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Manages workload efficiently to meet productivity and quality targets.
