About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW: This job is responsible for providing lectures for parasitology, mycology, and assigned bacteriology courses as well as student laboratory experiences for all courses and evaluation of students. It is responsible for contributing to the recruitment and admission of students. It develops, implements, and evaluates the curriculum, policies, and procedures of the school. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Teaches classroom and student laboratory theory and practice for assigned courses which include curriculum development, creation of outlines, syllabi, teaching materials, and examinations according to school policy to ensure instruction is current and relevant. Orders supplies and textbooks for the school. Recommends suitable capital budget purchases. (30%) Operates, calibrates, checks, maintains, and troubleshoots all instrumentation for the school. Procures samples for testing in the student laboratory. Maintains stock cultures of organisms for microbiology courses. Participates in planning for new student laboratory functions and equipment. (30%) Contributes to the annual systematic evaluation activities to improve program quality and maintain NAACLS accreditation. (10%) Participates in student recruitment by maintaining the school's social media, performing outreach initiatives, and creating marketing materials. (10%) Provides clinical instruction and supervision in clinical areas to assist the student in socialization, skill development, and the correlation of classroom theory to clinical area. (10%) Participates in the interview process and selection of students. (10%) Other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science/ Medical Technology or other science-related degree (Biology, Chemistry)
  • 2 years of experience in working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/ Medical Technologist
  • One of the following certifications is required: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) ASCP BOC Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP BOC Medical Technologist (MT) AAB American Associates of Bio analysts Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Microsoft Office Suite of Programs
  • Learning Management Systems (Canvas)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in teaching and familiarity with NAACLS accreditation standards
