About The Position

The MLT is responsible for accurately processing, analyzing and reporting laboratory results in a timely manner with minimal supervision, while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. The MLT comprehends and follows procedural guidelines in performance of laboratory tests to include (1) quality control monitoring; (2) computer applications; (3) instrumentation troubleshooting; and (4) specimen collection and processing requirements. (Pay Grade 07) The Medical Technologist will exercise professional judgment in the performance and interpretation of laboratory tests while following established procedures, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Able to assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor. The technologist is capable of performing and interpreting standard, complex, and specialized tests. The technologist has an understanding of quality assurance sufficient to implement and monitor quality control programs. (Pay Grade 09)

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program, ACT 169 clearance, and certification by A.S.C.P. within 6 months from date of hire OR possess a H.E.W. certification with 5 years of full-time clinical laboratory experience OR Already functioning as an MLT within SVH or TMC (Grandfathered) as off June 2002.
  • Must be MT (ASCP) certified or hold a BS degree from an accredited and associated certification program and obtain A.S.C.P. certification within 6 months from date of hire OR Already functioning as an MT within HVS or HVB (Grandfathered) as of June 2002 OR Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) through HEW and has experience as a CLT for a minimum of 20 years.
  • Both the MLT or MT must obtain successful completion of Acts 73 and/or 169 clearances within 90 days of commencing employment, if applicable.
