Requirements

  • 1+ year of medical billing follow-up experience
  • Strong understanding of billing codes, insurance processes, and IHS/PRC reimbursement
  • Proficiency in EMR and billing software systems
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, providers, and payers
  • Sharp attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Insurance

  • Background in Indian Health Service, Tribal Health, or Urban Indian Health billing

Responsibilities

  • Follow up with insurance companies, IHS, Tribal Health payers, and Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) programs on unpaid or denied claims
  • Research, resolve, and resubmit denied or delayed claims with precision
  • Navigate IHS-specific guidelines and payer requirements to ensure compliance
  • Update and correct insurance information to speed up payments
  • Communicate with patients about balances, insurance coverage, and available financial assistance
  • Maintain accurate documentation for every interaction
  • Work with your team to improve billing efficiency and reduce claim turnaround times
