About The Position

The Medical Information and Patient Advocacy Manager fills a hybrid role within US Medical Affairs, combining Medical Information (MI), Patient Advocacy and Grant Committee responsibilities. This role will entail ensuring the smooth and timely intake, processing and response to medical information requests (MIRs) coming from all available submission pathways. In addition, the individual will ensure that all Medical Information response documents are accurate, fair-balanced, and reflective of current scientific data and understanding. In addition to these responsibilities, the ideal candidate will serve as BED Inc’s point of contact and operate our Patient Advocacy program and receive and process Grant requests, in addition to other responsibilities as assigned within the medical team.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a health science- or clinically-based discipline (e.g., Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Medical Technology); Advanced degree preferred (e.g., PharmD, PhD, etc.)
  • At least 3 years of industry or clinical experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting/reviewing scientific and clinical literature searches and understanding/interpreting/organizing output from such searches.
  • Patient Advocacy experience recommended.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage high impact relationships and projects
  • Knowledge of FDA requirements
  • Ability to integrate and work in a cross functional network
  • Demonstrated project management ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships/earn credibility quickly across multiple constituencies with competing priorities.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation, and organizational skills; team player.
  • Experience and skills with cross-functional and highly matrixed organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently from a home office and also travel to local BED office as mandated.
  • Must also be able to travel nationally as needed (up to 10%).
  • Highly developed time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities with a high degree of initiative required.
  • Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States with a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Medical Information Services: Accept and process all incoming MIRs (via all routes)
  • Ensure timely and appropriate response to all MIRs including delivery of SRDs/OOSs, field medical follow-up, etc.
  • Oversee creation of new SRDs in response to demonstrated need
  • Manage existing SRD library including SRD updating and SRD archiving
  • Oversee creation of and manage Out of Scope responses
  • Produce monthly reports on Medical Information-related activities including inquiry volume and subject matter, response times, % of responses that are out of policy (e.g., delayed response time)
  • Work with inter- and intra-departmental colleagues to ensure functional and up-to-date routes of MIR submission
  • Provision of initial and periodic update training on MI policies/procedures/requirements to internal stakeholders
  • Patient Advocacy : Set the patient advocacy strategy to ensure BED’s success.
  • Maintain and leverage strategic relationships with patient advocacy groups within key areas of oncology and nuclear medicine where BED has current or pipeline products, including representing BED at key advocacy organization meetings and/or events.
  • Bring patient and patient advocacy group insights to internal teams during strategic planning discussions to ensure patient needs are met by programs implemented at BED.
  • Develop long-term patient advocacy plan to ensure a leadership position with patient advocacy groups through patient education and partnership on important initiatives.
  • Oversee advocacy budget and grant / sponsorship process, along with Medical Affairs, while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations for programs.
  • Work collaboratively with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Strategic Accounts, Compliance, etc., to provide expertise and assistance wherever possible and advocate for the program.
  • Grants: Monitor Grant Mailbox
  • Create slides and lead meetings for grant committee
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is received from grant requestor
  • Ensure that all required BED paperwork and approvals are received after approval
  • Provide acceptance or rejection letters to grant requestor
  • Track Medical Affairs grant spends
  • Work with finance to create PO and approvals
  • Any other responsibilities as needed and directed by line manager
