About The Position

The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC), Acute Care Division, is seeking a health care professional to conduct onsite surveys/inspections and complaint investigations of acute care facilities. Duties include federal certification, validation, and complaint surveys; Virginia state licensure inspections; the interpretation of federal and state laws and regulations to determine compliance; and the preparation of written survey/inspection reports. The acute care facilities include hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers and end-stage renal disease facilities. The list is not all inclusive. This is a home-based position, mainly servicing central Virginia. Independently or as part of a team conducts inspections/surveys or reviews of health care facilities for the purpose of licensure and/or certification issuance, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and promotion of quality health care practices. Conducts complaint investigations; compiles and evaluates information in determining degree of compliance; communicates findings orally and in writing; reviews and recommends approval, denial, or revisions to health care provider's plan; recommends plan of correction to supervisor when provider is not in compliance. May serve as information resource to health care providers. Position requires travel.

Requirements

  • Self-directed individual with specialized knowledge of health care systems and services, quality of care issues & health care administration
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and legally defensible manner; ability to manage multiple assignments independently; to listen actively, share job knowledge, maintain professionalism, and follow through with requests
  • Ability to independently assess individual patient/resident medical care plans and outcomes, the overall quality of facility care and services, and to interpret and apply complex state/federal regulations to the findings

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer an RN or other licensed/certified health care provider with clinical experience
  • Prefer prior experience with state/federal health care facility survey/inspection programs
