If you're passionate about supporting the frontlines of care through innovation and service, we’d love to have you on our team. This position will support Prescott's, Inc. Prescott’s Surgical Microscopes is seeking a dedicated and proactive Medical Equipment Buyer to manage the sourcing, purchasing, logistics, and inbound flow of used surgical microscopes from the secondary market. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, lead equipment procurement activities end-to-end, coordinate freight and shipments, manage receipt and inspection, and support internal teams including service parts and refurbishment operations. The ideal candidate brings strong procurement skillsets paired with a commercial mindset to identify new acquisition opportunities and maintain first‑right‑of‑refusal access with vendors. This position will be worked onsite at our facility in Monument, CO.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain.
  • Vendor negotiation and strategic sourcing ability.
  • Experience coordinating freight or logistics for large or sensitive equipment.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and multitasking discipline.
  • Proficiency with proactive sourcing — auctions, vendor outreach, price negotiation.
  • Strong communication skills both internal and vendor‑facing.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and spreadsheet‑based reporting.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 lbs. by yourself.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good team player and can work under minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle customer inquiries professionally.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check prior to starting.
  • Must be able to work Monday – Friday, 7am to 4pm, at least 40 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant 2-4 year degree preferred.
  • Experience with medical equipment procurement (especially microscopes).
  • Exposure to refurbishment, remanufacturing, or parts‑harvest environments.
  • Knowledge of auction networks or secondary‑market sourcing.
  • Project‑based or cross‑functional coordination experience.
  • Experience with procurement or ERP software (e.g., NetSuite, FedEx, UPS software) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Source surgical microscopes through vendor networks, marketplaces, auctions, and industry contacts.
  • Serve as the primary vendor liaison — negotiate pricing, maintain relationships, and secure first-refusal where possible.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders for microscope acquisitions.
  • Coordinate freight/shipping logistics for large medical equipment including outbound dunnage and carrier scheduling and documentation.
  • Track shipments, monitor deliveries, and ensure timely equipment receipt.
  • Inspect incoming units and coordinate with technical/operations teams for quality assessment.
  • Support material allocation to both service parts and refurbishment operations.
  • Monitor auctions and secondary markets for new procurement opportunities and execute on appropriate opportunities.
  • Manage admin tasks in scenarios where the Sales team has identified the procurement opportunity.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor contracts, inventory files, and freight documentation.
  • Track vendor performance and provide reporting on costs, logistics, and acquisition flow.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, operations, finance, and field service.
  • Collaborate and cross-train with other buyers to understand and meet business needs, as well as backfill when necessary.
