About The Position

Position Summary: The Medical Dosimetrist develops, calculates, and implements radiation therapy treatment plans in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription, ensuring accurate dose delivery, patient safety, and quality outcomes. Working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists, this role supports CT simulation, target and normal structure contouring, advanced treatment planning, image registration, and quality assurance activities. The Medical Dosimetrist applies clinical judgment, dosimetric expertise, and established protocols to design optimized treatment plans using modern radiation therapy techniques while adhering to regulatory, safety, and professional practice standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)–accredited Medical Dosimetry program or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) year of clinical medical dosimetry experience.
  • Current certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times
  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality
  • Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Dosimetry or science-related field.
  • Experience with Varian Eclipse/ARIA, Trilogy, and Edge platforms.
  • Membership in the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD) or related professional organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and calculate radiation therapy treatment plans to ensure accurate delivery of prescribed doses in accordance with medical physics and clinical standards.
  • Utilize CT, PET, MRI, and other imaging modalities to support treatment planning and target delineation.
  • Assist with CT simulation, including patient positioning, immobilization, and fabrication of ancillary devices.
  • Contour target volumes and normal structures using appropriate imaging datasets.
  • Perform rigid and deformable image registration for multi-modality treatment planning.
  • Create and optimize treatment plans utilizing techniques such as 2D, 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, 4D planning, SRS, SBRT, and brachytherapy.
  • Support HDR brachytherapy simulation, setup, and planning under established protocols.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes, including patient-specific measurements, under the direction of a Medical Physicist.
  • Conduct routine chart checks and ensure accurate transfer and documentation of treatment plan data within clinical systems.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and promptly report deviations or concerns to the Medical Physicist.
