About The Position

CareDx, Inc. is a leading precision medicine solutions company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of clinically differentiated, high-value healthcare solutions for transplant patients and caregivers. CareDx offers products, testing services, and digital healthcare solutions along the pre- and post-transplant patient journey, and is the leading provider of genomics-based information for transplant patients. The Medical Director will be an MD/DO, with training and experience in abdominal transplant, and will lead the efforts to support the abdominal portfolio of the medical and clinical development strategy of CareDx’ pipeline and in-line products. This includes developing clinical trials, research studies, national and international registries, publications and abstracts, medical information activities, thought leader engagement, conferences, and other scientific and medical engagement platforms. The individual will educate and partner with clinical and business leaders, including transplant clinicians and surgeons, other clinical and research transplant personnel, government and private payers, laboratory directors, distributors, and other external stakeholders. Internally, the Medical Director will partner with the functional and business leads, MSL Directors, and Medical Science Liaisons to help prioritize, analyze, propose, and execute clinical and research partnerships to enable the generation and dissemination of evidence regarding CareDx’ broad transplant portfolio. You will have the opportunity to launch and scale CareDx’ new best-in-class offerings and drive the data using this platform to show improved outcomes for solid organ transplant recipients. The role is within the Medical Affairs organization, and a broad CareDx team will collaborate and support the Medical Director’s success, including Research and Development, Marketing, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and others. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of and experience in helping drive end-to-end patient care management at key transplant center(s), developing clinical messaging, engaging scientifically with clinicians and transplant key thought leaders to drive scientific and clinical innovation, generating evidence, and disseminating evidence for transplantation management. A record of accomplishments in transplantation, in-depth clinical knowledge, ability to build senior client relationships, and/or launch new products in an entrepreneurial environment is a strong plus. The position involves frequent travel across the country, working with key transplant centers across the nation, and supporting the Medical Science Liaison team with senior medical leadership where needed.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with 5 years of post-training clinical experience
  • Demonstrated experience in abdominal organ transplantation (kidney, liver, pancreas, and/or intestine)
  • Strong understanding of transplant care pathways and end-to-end patient management
  • Experience engaging with transplant clinicians, surgeons, and key opinion leaders
  • Passion for improving outcomes for transplant patients
  • Proven ability to generate and communicate scientific and clinical evidence
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to present to senior leaders and external experts
  • Results-oriented, with a track record of ownership and accountability
  • High initiative, intellectual curiosity, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Excellent collaboration and cross-functional partnership skills
  • Domestic and international travel required, up to 50%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical research, molecular diagnostics, and/or advanced transplant technologies
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, or equivalent) strongly desired
  • Experience contributing to product launches or working in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute Medical Affairs strategies supporting the abdominal transplant portfolio.
  • Partner closely with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations leadership to align priorities, strategies, and execution plans and provide proactive updates and reporting on progress toward objectives.
  • Provide senior medical leadership and support to the Medical Science Liaison team as needed to prioritize scientific engagement, research collaborations, and educational initiatives at key transplant centers.
  • Contribute to the assessment, design, and implementation of sponsored clinical studies, registries, investigator-initiated trials (IITs), grants, and research collaborations.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and Medical Affairs to propose, implement, and monitor clinical studies in key markets.
  • Support the generation, analysis, and dissemination of clinical and real-world evidence demonstrating the value of CareDx’s abdominal transplant solutions.
  • Serve as a senior company representative with external scientific leaders, transplant clinicians and surgeons, patient advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders.
  • Engage with national and international key opinion leaders to advance scientific dialogue and clinical innovation in abdominal transplantation.
  • Participate in and support scientific and clinical advisory boards.
  • Support scientific and clinical initiatives at major transplant and scientific meetings.
  • Present scientific and clinical data at customer workshops, symposia, congresses, and professional meetings.
  • Support scientific bureau activities and deliver presentations on behalf of CareDx.
  • Function as the primary clinical resource for Business and Market Development teams, providing scientific and clinical input into product and business strategy.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, PLM, Regulatory Affairs, and other internal teams to ensure appropriate medical input across the product lifecycle.
  • Coordinate across the CareDx organization to ensure appropriate resources are aligned to support new clinical and scientific opportunities.
