Medical Billing Specialist
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join a highly regarded and well-established healthcare organization. In this role, you will support day to day revenue cycle operations and play a key part in ensuring accurate charge capture, claims processing, and timely reimbursement across assigned specialties. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented billing professional who enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Location: 100% onsite in Larkspur, CA Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am to 5pm (slight flexibility possible) Pay Range: $23–$27/hour (DOE) Start Date: Within 1-2 weeks of offer Employment Type: Temporary (2+ months) with potential to convert to permanent Background Check: Clear criminal background check and drug screen (including cannabis)
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience
- Strong working knowledge of ICD 10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Experience with insurance payors, eligibility, and prior authorizations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Epic/Apex or similar billing systems preferred
- Coding certification preferred (not required)
Responsibilities
- Coordinate full cycle medical billing for assigned specialties
- Ensure accurate charge capture and reconciliation of billing activity
- Review and work revenue cycle work queues on a daily basis
- Prepare, review, and submit claims and itemized bills with a high level of accuracy
- Perform quality control checks to support prompt and correct payment
- Serve as a billing resource to clinical and non-clinical staff
- Communicate with coding vendors regarding procedures as needed
- Review billing and reconciliation reports and escalate discrepancies appropriately
- Support process improvements and maintain strong attention to detail
- Perform related duties as assigned
