About The Position

Summit Home Care and Hospice is searching for an experienced and motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. Medical Billing Specialist: Job Type: Full-Time, 100 % Remote Approved Remote Locations: Marietta, OH or Columbus, OH Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (8 Hour Shift with 30 Minute Lunch) Pay Rate: $22.00 - $25.00 per Hour Job Summary: The Billing/Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely completion and submission of Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient billing. This position will also follow up on open accounts receivable for collection of payment from payers and to correct any issues resulting in unbilled claims.

Requirements

At least 2 years' experience in health care data entry, preferably in home health care systems.
At least 2 years of previous health care related billing experience, preferably in home health care billing.
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills.
Critical thinking and strong work ethic.
Organization and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in medical billing, account receivable, home health billing, hospice billing and/or personal care billing, highly preferred.
Current knowledge of PDGM and NOA billing requirements for Medicare.
2 years of college/associate degree preferred.
Knowledge of payer portals for billing and follow up (Epic, Waystar-Zirmed, Availity).
Knowledge of Kinnser/Waystar EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately enter patient billing data, including visit charges and supply charges, into the information system.
Accurately processes and bills Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient claims in accordance with payer requirements and organization policy.
Maintains complete and accurate billing and accounts receivable records.
Prepares Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient remittances for data entry.
Alerts appropriate management team members regarding late or missing documents required for billing.
Assists with the collection of receivables by monitoring accounts receivables, resubmitting bills to overdue accounts, and alerting the Billing management team of seriously overdue accounts.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, payers, and other customers.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient and organization information at all times.
Performs other specific projects relating to billing, data entry, and computer operations as required.
