Job Description: Under the direction of the office provider or licensed nurse of Fairfield Healthcare Professionals, the Medical Assistant will assist with preparing patients for exams, administering medications within the medical assistant scope of practice, assisting with procedures, and facilitating general communication with patients. Accurately takes vital signs and gives injections as directed. Performs all in-office testing as requested by provider. Assists with minor surgical procedures/wound care and dressing, and sterilization of instruments. Handles pharmacy-related requests/issues. Collects and inputs patient information into patients EMR using correct medical terminology. Completes referrals, pre-certifications, and prior-authorizations. Monitors and orders supplies and medications. Maintains patient files. Responsible for financial cost related to obtaining certification and renewing of certification. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining certification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Current AAMA certification or current AAMA exam eligibility.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.

Nice To Haves

  • STNA preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
