About The Position

The Multi‑Engine Aircraft Pilot is responsible for conducting and completing aviation missions in support of the Florida Highway Patrol. This is a non‑sworn position that performs specialized aircraft operations supporting public safety missions. When not engaged in aviation missions, the incumbent will support the Aviation Unit. Additional duties may include participating in training, assisting with flight operations procedures, supporting maintenance activities, and contributing to Aviation Unit safety initiatives.

Requirements

Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Skill in operating navigational aids.
Skill in flying under instrument conditions.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on aircraft.
Ability to describe facts and events accurately.
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate logs, records and reports.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Commercial Multi-Engine rating required AND Instrument rating required.
The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.
This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.
Candidates must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid FAA Class II medical certificate prior to appointment. Applicants who are not currently rated for an FLHSMV aircraft will be required to complete agency‑approved training.
At least 50 hours of night flight time, 50 hours of instrument flight time, 500 hours multi-engine Pilot in Command and a minimum of 1500 hours total flight time.
