About The Position

We are looking for a full time Medical Assistant to join our Outpatient Total Joint team in Vancouver, WA. This position is responsible for assisting program RNs with patient management; performing clerical, environmental and organizational tasks, database management, report preparation, and records maintenance, supporting Outpatient Total Joint Programs, and extending RNs as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians. While this position will be based out of our Vancouver, WA location.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from high school or GED. Graduate from a Medical Assisting Program.
  • Certificate/License: BLS Certification. Valid Washington State certification to practice medical assisting.
  • Experience: Two years customer service experience, preferably in a clinic or medical office setting. Experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability reason independently, computer proficiency and dependability.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate test results with patients when deemed appropriate by physician/nurse practitioner.
  • Facilitate patient care activities to include scheduling tests, reinforcing patient education, and follow up with patients to gather information as directed by physician/nurse practitioner/registered nurse.
  • Responsible to room patients for Nurse Practitioner to include obtaining vital signs, performing lab tests and any other appropriately delegated clinical function.
  • Provide support to the Outpatient Program with follow-up services needed (PCP notes, specialist notes, blood work, obtain any clearances).
  • Schedules patient for RN Review of History (ROH).
  • Submits authorization and schedules ancillary testing procedures ordered for medical clearance by Nurse Practitioner such as ECHO, CXR, etc.
  • Coordinates DME for total joint population.
  • Provide support to the medical clearance department in obtaining any clearances and test results needed by physician/nurse practitioner to proceed with surgery.
  • Perform basic computer skills in using the electronic health record and file maker to conduct daily documentation and communications in patient care.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
