About The Position

FPA Family Practice Associates (FPA) was founded in 1983 and has grown into one of the largest family practice groups in Central Kentucky, dedicated to providing family-centered care from birth through all stages of life. With over 20 primary care providers and a skilled staff, FPA has been recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Clinical Care Assistants at FPA function as part of the Clinical Care Team at the Hamburg and Brannon Crossing locations. Their role is to facilitate patient flow through the clinical area, which includes patient assessment, assisting with procedures, performing non-physician diagnostic testing as ordered, administering medications, scheduling referral appointments, and giving discharge instructions to patients.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel between locations (Hamburg and Brannon Crossing)
  • A graduate of a medical assisting program
  • The ability to work well under stress and to manage high patient volume
  • Fine motor skills required for injections, phlebotomy and performing other diagnostic tests
  • Motor skills required to move quickly from room to room, to assist patients in ambulation, and to push a wheelchair
  • Physical ability to sit, stand and stretch repeatedly as well as lift loads of less than 10 pounds

  • Certified or Registered MAs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preload patient charts daily, as assigned
  • Obtain patient history, assessment of current complaint, vital signs measurement, order procedures and test according to FPA standard protocols and document in an electronic medical record
  • Assist providers in performing procedures (stress testing, office surgery, pap smears, etc.)
  • Perform non-physician diagnostic procedures (electrocardiogram, audiometry, and pulmonary function testing, etc.)
  • Administer medication as ordered (oral medications, therapeutic injectables, immunizations, and allergy injection, etc.)
  • Monitor therapeutic response to medications, such as repeat blood pressure readings, pain relief and/or adverse reactions as indicated
  • Perform needed equipment maintenance and upkeep to ensure good working order of medical equipment
  • Stock and set up exam rooms for patient care
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable instruments and packs
  • Schedule STAT diagnostic and referral appointments for patients and communicate preparation and proper follow-up
  • Perform Task basket responsibilities
  • Assist with lunch coverage as assigned
  • Other duties and responsibilities required for efficient operation of the office to provide quality care and service
