About The Position

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with the facilitation of patient visits and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the practice's population. This role also involves active participation in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Requirements

  • Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years
  • Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a team setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive attitude toward problem-solving

Responsibilities

  • Assist the provider with facilitation of patient visit and procedures
  • Perform routine laboratory tests
  • Manage referrals
  • Ensure quality outcomes for the population of the practice
  • Actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
  • Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
  • Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
  • Document care using the EPIC EMR system
  • Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
  • Process medication refills
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
