Make a Difference Exercise Physiologist provide direct care to cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients for restoring functional capacity by assuring safe and appropriate instruction in monitored exercise.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Wellness, required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required
- Six months of experience in cardiac rehabilitation facility, required
- Possesses advanced knowledge of cardiac/pulmonary anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, dysrhythmias and identification of life threatening electrocardiogram changes
- Knowledge of role of lifestyle modification in lowering cardiovascular risk factors
- Ability to physically facilitate and support patients participating in the rehabilitation program in performance of exercise, by demonstration, as needed
Nice To Haves
- Exercise Physiologist Certified (EPC), preferred
Responsibilities
- assuring safe and appropriate instruction in monitored exercise
- Provides instructional activities targeting cardiac and pulmonary risk factor reduction and healthy lifestyle promotion
- Facilitates psychological adjustment to lifestyle changes
- Periodically reviews progress of each participant and adjusts the plan of care accordingly
