This PART-TIME position will support Western Maryland areas including, but not limited to Hagerstown and Frederick The general schedule will be: In Frederick: 1st, 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month In Hagerstown: 3rd Monday and 2nd Friday of the month The "Medical Office Specialist" provides Front/Back office duties to various gastroenterology providers in an outpatient setting. Open to individuals who have finished their Medical Assistant (MA) program or those in need of clinical hours before starting graduate school (18-24 months required). This position is a traveling Medical Assistant/Medical Office Specialist who will be primarily supporting providers at offsite clinic locations in the Western Maryland area. This position will likely NOT support the Downtown Baltimore Hospital location.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of one-year experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
• Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
• Microsoft Outlook
• Epic
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
• Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Will be required to travel to satellite offices including but not limited to:
• Hagerstown
• Frederick

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures
• Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
• Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
• Complete patient check-in and check-out processes.
• Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Administer injections and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on-site training provided)
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
