About The Position

Medical Assistant Job Summary: This position includes all MAs, RMAs/CMAs. Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, this employee assists doctors during office. Regular attendance is an essential part of this job. Essential Functions: Obtains vitals on patients Schedules all testing, surgery, injections Initiates pre-certs for all testing, surgeries and injections Prepares injections for patients and assists doctors with the injections Obtains, prints out, and faxes History and Physicals on all surgeries Puts patients in rooms, obtains needed x-rays, performs staple-suture removal, cast removal, dressing removal, and applies new dressings and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Keeps all physician’s surgeries, business, and personal appointments on doctor’s calendar. Schedules depositions for doctor Obtains current medication list from patient and documents in EHR Talks with surgery center to insure proper equipment is available for each case Documents, calls in or e-scribes each prescription after approval from doctor Returns and documents every clinical patient call Explains to patients the instructions they will have to follow after surgery Reviews all testing results and forwards necessary ones to doctor Maintains diagnostic testing log book Obtains x-ray reports on all outside x-rays Ensures a copy of surgery face sheet is returned to the office Marks CPT and ICD-10 codes for surgery charges Reviews Didn’t Keep Appointment (DKA) charts and sends reminders to patients as needed Updates hospital privileges annually with the exception of a medical assistant Additional Responsibilities: Cross covers other doctors as necessary Obtains necessary Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs) unless grand fathered in. Works in Urgent Care on a Saturday rotation schedule. The preceding examples are representative of the assignments performed by this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in Medical Office setting
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with all doctors and nurses

  • RMA or CMA certification preferred
