About The Position

The Medical Assistant for South Bay Cardio will assist the clinical staff in the care of patients, prep patients for stress testing procedures, assist in patient observation, assist in the maintaining of clean exam rooms, stock items, answer phones, front office, and other related duties. As a key member of the clinical team, the Medical Assistant will play a vital role in supporting patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the practice. This role's day-to-day work will directly impact patients’ health and experience.

Requirements

Graduation from a NYS-accredited Medical Assistant program is required
BCLS certification (in-person training only, American Heart Association)
Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy and aseptic technique
A team-first attitude and commitment to providing respectful, quality care

Nice To Haves

Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (NHA, AMT, AAMA, NCCT)

Responsibilities

Prepare exam rooms: sanitize, stock supplies, and ensure medications/vaccines are ready for the day
Review upcoming appointments and identify gaps in care (mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, etc.)
Escort patients to rooms and manage patient flow to maximize efficiency
Take and record vitals, patient history, allergies, medications, and current concerns
Assist with procedures, including EKGs, Holter monitors, and in-office testing
Collect and process lab specimens; track and document results
Perform quality control on equipment and testing materials
Help at the front desk when needed — greeting patients, answering phones, verifying insurance
Collaborate with providers and the care team to ensure the best patient outcomes
