Under general supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant will provide outstanding care in service to patients and physicians. The CMA must be able to assist the Physician with patient flow in a professional and courteous manner at all times. JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential Duties & Responsibilities Obtain, review and document patient medical history and record vital signs in EMR. Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician during the examination. Provide patient with accurate information, instruction, and education as it pertains to their medical visits and treatment procedures. Administer medications as directed by physician. As directed by physician, process pharmacy requests. Pre-certify patients for treatment. Pull all orders (including telephone) and ensure that there are no patient "open orders". Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for processing. Proactively follow up with patient labs (i.e., biopsy, cysto's, u/a, blood work, etc.) and patient records in a timely manner. Ensure patient is scheduled with correct provider. Remove stents, sutures, etc. as directed by physician. Prepare examination rooms by maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms, as well as arranging the instruments and equipment. Perform venipuncture on assigned patients with accuracy and care (not applicable in Peds). Maintain HIPAA compliance and OSHA standards of care. Maintain positive and respectful dialogue at all times. Other duties as assigned.
