This is a per diem, non-benefited position generally working weekdays from 8:30am-5pm. Hours will vary as needed (start times generally ranging from 7:30-8:30am). Located in La Jolla at the Shiley Pavilion in the Torrey Pines neighborhood. The ideal candidate will work at least 2 days/week (primarily Tu/Th). No weekends or holidays. Training is ideally full time hours for a few weeks.

Requirements

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

1 year MA experience in an outpatient setting
Experience with the following: Epic experience, surgical experience, wound care and/or suture removal, outpatient clinic experience

Responsibilities

Back office duties and front office duties as needed/assigned
Perform patient intakes
Scribing for the dermatologist
Assisting with diagnostic testing, phototherapy UVB/UVA, laser, and surgical procedures
Completing clerical duties including scheduling patient visits, taking supply inventory and managing medication authorization approvals
Float to other sites within the dermatology & mohs specialties depending upon department needs
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice.
Assisting in preparing patients for examination/procedures
Assisting physicians with procedures
Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
Collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
Performing vital sign documentation
Scheduling of appointments and procedures
Complete and accurate message taking
Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
Order and referral entry
Acquisition of pre-certifications
Setting up of cases in EPIC
Basic registration and updating of demographics
