The medical assistant is a medical support professional that performs a variety of tasks to assist physicians in providing excellent patient care, while ensuring the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently. Medical assistants are also required to complete administrative tasks, while practicing excellent communication with patients and physicians. The medical assistant works directly under the supervision of the clinical manager and the physician. Successful medical assistants must have a good understanding of medical terminology to be able to read and understand patients’ charts. To facilitate physicians’ performance the medical assistant will anticipate what the physicians will need without prompting, therefore, they must have coordination skills, they are orderly, and conscientious. Must have problem sensitivity in order to recognize when something is wrong or when something will go wrong. The medical assistant maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following procedures and complying with legal regulations. Prepares the patient exam rooms, provides direct patient care by taking medical histories, charting, completing all vital signs and collects body fluid samples. The medical assistant secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by guarding all electronic medical records along with prepping the patient record before the patient visit. The medical assistant will have supplies ready by inventorying on hand stock, placing orders, verifying receipts. The medical assistants will be able to troubleshoot equipment and call for repairs when needed. The medical assistant will update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. They will adhere to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal state, and local requirements. Communicates regularly in a positive manner with the Clinical Manager, Nephrologists and other team member’s hospitals and dialysis facilities regarding all patient related issues. Responsible for all other duties/procedures requested by Clinical Manager and/or Medical Providers.
