About The Position

Under clinical supervision, assists in the delivery of patient care and treatment according to policies and procedures and Logan Health (LH) MAU/UAP (Unlicensed Assistive Personnel) scope of practice. Provides administrative support and works collaboratively with Physicians, Advanced Practice Clinicians, RNs, LPNs and other department staff to meet the physical, psychosocial, education and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Requirements

  • Post–high school education or vocational training in healthcare preferred; equivalent education and clinical experience may be considered.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assisting program within 18 months of hire.
  • Current Health Care Provider CPR preferred or required prior to completion of orientation.
  • Meets Logan Health medication administration requirements through training or demonstrated knowledge.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates integrity, empathy, professionalism, and commitment to high-quality patient care.
  • Practices strictly within the Logan Health MA/UAP scope of practice, completing all required onboarding education and competency validation prior to performing patient care tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical office experience and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, basic lab values, and pharmacology preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment, infection control, patient safety standards, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for clinic visits by reviewing medical history, obtaining vital signs, and ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Assist providers during exams, procedures, and care planning discussions.
  • Perform specimen collection, point-of-care testing, immunizations, and medication administration as directed.
  • Accurately document care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Support care coordination, referrals, follow-up scheduling, and patient education.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to provide seamless, patient-centered care.
