Job Description: X-Ray Technologist / Medical Assistant Location: Patchogue Hours/Days : Mon-Fri 8-530- (rotating 8.5hr shifts) Organization : New York Imaging (NYI) Key Responsibilities As a X-Ray Technologist / Medical Assistant at NYI, you will be integral to the care and support of both patients and the medical team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Current ARRT certification (or state-required equivalent)
  • State licensure to perform radiographic procedures (if applicable)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety and infection control practices
  • Proficiency with EMR/RIS systems
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented with a flexible and positive attitude
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and position patients and equipment as required
  • Reliable transportation to travel between NYI locations

  • Prior experience in an outpatient imaging center, urgent care, or multi-specialty practice

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and radiation safety standards
  • Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of radiology equipment
  • Adhere to ALARA principles and radiation safety guidelines
  • Verify patient identity, review orders, and confirm exam indications
  • Accurately document imaging procedures in the EMR/RIS
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists and providers regarding exam findings or issues
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including QA and infection control standards
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
  • Perform blood draws, urine dipsticks, stool collection, and rapid tests such as Strep, Flu, COVID, and RSV, ensuring proper labeling and handling of all specimens.
  • Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures as needed
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms between patients
  • Manage patient flow to support efficient clinic operations
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by providers
  • Accurately document clinical interactions in the EMR
  • Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing; assist with diagnostic procedures under Physician or APP supervision.
  • Operate lab equipment, process specimens, and store samples per required conditions.
  • Perform and document lab tests, complete QC procedures, troubleshoot issues, and report critical values.
  • Prepare and send specimens to external labs, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
