About The Position

The X-Ray Technologist performs radiologic exams, following established procedures for patient care and safety. Performs all the duties related to proper film identification, storage, and reporting functions. Perform registration duties.

Requirements

  • Radiology Technician (RT) or General X-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO) certification required.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate X-Ray equipment to take radiographic films of designated portions of the body as directed by the APP or Physician.
  • Ensures radiology equipment is functioning appropriately and reports equipment malfunctions to manager
  • Logs radiologic procedures
  • Responsible for taking patient history and obtain vital signs
  • Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing.
  • Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples.
  • Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples.
  • Able to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedure.
  • Perform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levels.
  • Dispense and document medications and other treatment modalities.
  • Insure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave.
  • Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patients.
  • Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation
  • Perform occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals
  • Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA).
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager.
  • Logs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist’s referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient’s education.
  • Maintains examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocks necessary medical supplies.
  • Performs duties to ensure good patient flow.
  • Registration duties: explain to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely manner.
  • Travel to care centers within designated region
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information
  • Cleans and stocks the site with other members of the team
  • Training other team members.
