Job Description: First Urology is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and highly motivated Medical Assistant for the Audubon office location. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced clinical setting. Will be supporting licensed medical staff in providing excellent care and ensuring the comfort, safety, and overall well-being of our patients. Current Medical Assistants, MA students, and nursing PCAs are encouraged to apply. Certification is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • Medical Terminology (required)
  • Vital Signs (Required)
  • Current BLS Certification (Required)
  • Experience utilizing an EMR system (required)

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience in an outpatient clinical or medical practice (preferred)
  • Experience Collecting lab Specimens (preferred)
  • Phlebotomy (Preferred)
  • Internship or Externship as a Medical Student (Preferred)
  • Current Certification from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or (RMA) Certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Taking medical histories
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examinations
  • Assisting the clinical team during examinations
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing basic laboratory tests and diagnostics
  • Instructing patients about medication and special diets
  • Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse, nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
  • Transmitting prescription refills as directed
  • Phlebotomy
  • Taking electrocardiograms
  • Utilizing EMR system
  • Answering telephones
  • Welcoming patients
  • Updating and filing patient medical records
  • Filling out insurance forms
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
  • Handling different types of correspondence
