Position Summary: The Student Medical Assistant – Certification Track supports physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This position is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in a medical assistant training program (CMA, CCMA, RMA, or equivalent) or will be enrolled in the employer provided certified medical assistant training program. The non-certified Medical Assistant performs basic clinical and administrative duties while gaining the skills and experience needed to achieve full certification.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum Experience: None required; prior healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Licensure Requirement: Accepted Medical Assistant Certification is required within 9 months of hire. Employees hired into the Employer provided certified medical assistant training program will be required to sign a 12-month work agreement from date of certification and associated repayment agreement.

Responsibilities
- Documents in the patient medical record and performs other data entry.
- Assists physician with procedures and examinations.
- Cleans exam rooms and maintains infection control principles.
- Greets patients, gathers and records necessary vital signs and other applicable measurements or concerns from patients.
- Completes intake questionnaire, including but not limited to recent medical history, medication list, current symptoms, patient questions or concerns and communicates to provider and care team.
- Documents patient visit in the electronic health record and communicate abnormalities to a licensed team member or provider.
- Performs administrative duties such as answering telephones, scheduling of appointments, insurance verification, billing/coding, and maintains supply inventory as assigned.
- Reviews provider schedule in advance and confirm presence of required documentation in preparation for patient visits.
- Performs other duties within non-certified MA scope of practice as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
