InterCare is searching for a Part-Time Medical Assistant - School Based Clinic to join our team! Work Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with travel, evening and weekend hours as necessary. Job Purpose: - The Medical Assistant at INTERCARE COMMUNITY HEALTH NETWORK's School Based Clinic will provide essential healthcare support to ensure the well-being of students. This role involves assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care, promoting health education, and supporting the smooth operation of the clinic within the school environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with Certification or Registration.
Minimum of one year of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and healthcare professionals.
Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with examinations.
Proficiency in using computer systems and software relevant to healthcare settings.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a dynamic school environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a school-based clinic or with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing processes.

Responsibilities

Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for students.
Record patient information accurately, including medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant data.
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and organized.
Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by healthcare providers, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
Provide basic health education and counseling to students, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care.
Coordinate with school staff and parents to facilitate communication and ensure comprehensive care for students.
Manage appointment scheduling, patient follow-ups, and other administrative tasks to support clinic operations.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all healthcare regulations and privacy laws.
Participate in community outreach and health promotion activities organized by the clinic.
Continuously update skills and knowledge through professional development opportunities and training sessions.
