Summary The Medical Assistant – Provider Scribe & Clinical Support role is a shared-support position designed to enhance provider efficiency, clinical throughput, and documentation accuracy. This MA will function as a dedicated scribe and clinical support partner for two assigned providers, managing real-time documentation and all associated clinical administrative tasks to allow providers to focus on direct patient care. This role requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to independently manage competing priorities across two providers. The MA is accountable for the full scope of provider support and does not rely on centralized clinical operations teams for task completion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a clinical or medical office setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation.
  • Strong typing, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to independently manage workload and priorities across two providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA).
  • Prior experience working as a medical scribe.
  • Experience in senior living, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), or complex care environments.
  • This role requires travel to and from one or more assigned facilities. Depending on the amount of travel required, Curana may in future determine that a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record are required. If so, you will be provided with thirty (30) days notice of this requirement. From that time forward, please be advised that Periodic motor vehicle (MVR) checks may be conducted as a condition of, and/or for, continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Scribing & Documentation Serve as a real-time medical scribe for two assigned providers during patient encounters.
  • Accurately document visits in the EHR (gEHRiMed), including chief complaints, history elements as directed by the provider, orders, and follow-up actions entered during the encounter.
  • Complete documentation only while physically or virtually present with the provider, in alignment with compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure timely chart closure and support same-day completion of documentation.
  • Clinical & Administrative Provider Support Manage provider-related clinical tasks, including orders (labs, imaging, referrals, DME), pharmacy requests and refill coordination, prior authorizations, and clinical discovery.
  • Handle inbound and outbound clinical communication, including faxes and coordination with external partners.
  • Collect, organize, and prepare supporting clinical information for provider review.
  • Track outstanding items and ensure timely follow-through without the need for escalation.
  • Care Coordination & Workflow Management Develop and manage daily workflows for two providers to support efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate follow-up visits, re-evaluations, and documentation needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between providers, facility staff, and clinical partners.
  • Proactively identify workflow bottlenecks and adjust processes to maintain provider productivity targets.
  • Communication & Collaboration Communicate clearly and professionally with providers, nursing staff, and leadership.
  • Support providers across shared schedules while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on MA utilization and provider efficiency.
