Under the direct supervision of the Primary Care Clinic Manager is responsible for providing excellent customer service through effectively managing provider schedules, ensuring communication between providers and patients, and, under the supervision and direction of providers, performing a variety of medical procedures in the primary care and/or behavioral medical department. Prepares for scheduled visits by: auditing appointments to ensure appropriateness of visit and adequacy of time scheduled scrubbing charts to ensure needed records, documents, and health screenings and immunizations are available for provider review prior to the visit assisting patients with the completion of various assessment tools rooming patients according to protocol and preparing appropriate instruments for examination/procedure. Actively manage provider schedules by monitoring schedules and backfilling openings as they appear, keeping providers on schedule, and maximizing provider/patient time Assists providers with medical procedures as delegated by provider and under scope of practice. May collect and/or prepares laboratory specimens for courier pick-up and completes all documentation needed to process insurance. Assists patients any time need is apparent or as directed by the provider. May schedule follow up and referral appointments. Basic patient education including prescription usage, immunization information, STD education, and lifestyle education for wellness. Assists patients and clients with filling out paperwork and assessments as needed. Keep rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, wash and dry instruments used, and sterilize as required. Answer patient phone calls and provide feedback and answers to patient/provider/pharmacy calls. Manage incoming phone calls by prioritizing urgency of phone calls, asking pertinent follow up questions and giving all information to provider. Assists with patient care coordination including notifying patients of laboratory results, scheduling referral appointments, follow up of health maintenance needs, and responding to patient telephone calls as directed by providers. Completes forms as needed by providers. Maintain accurate, detailed reports, records,, logs and required checklists (ie: refrigerator/freezer temp, sample meds, inventory, PAP meds, expired meds, etc.) Address incoming paperwork (including faxes), or distribute as needed. Put away incoming supplies (including medications) immediately according to protocol. Adheres to documentation submission standards as outlined in MSHS policies and procedures. Participates in mandatory “Code” and emergency drills. Calls “no show” clients to assist in rescheduling. Assists in standing order refills on medications.
