About The Position

Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant- Resource Position Highlights: Position: Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant Location: Chicago, IL Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Hours: Rotating hours between 6:45am – 8pm (8 hour shift) Required Travel: Travel to other sites based upon department need

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
• Certification: CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
• Experience: One year of work experience required, previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred.
• On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
• Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones
• Schedule appointments
• Collect co-payments
• Complete patient registration
• Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
• Check in and check out patient
• Verify insurances
• Greet patients and escort them to exam room
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
• Provide front office support as needed
• Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required
