About The Position

Medical Oncology Associates of San Diego (MOASD), a partner of One Oncology's network, is seeking an experienced back office Medical Assistant. The role involves providing compassionate patient care in a multi-physician oncology practice. The ideal candidate must be capable of multi-tasking, performing in a busy environment, and prioritizing tasks as the day progresses. Travel may be required. MOASD offers a complete range of oncology services, providing personalized care for the detection, diagnosis, treatment, support, and follow-up of cancer patients and their families in a professional, encouraging, and understanding atmosphere. The position's schedule is Monday-Wednesday 8:30am-3pm and Thursday 8:30am-5pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited education institution.
  • Three years of work experience in venipuncture.
  • Must comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and office policies and protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer/telephone support, preferably in a health care environment.
  • Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer processing functions and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent patient services.
  • Address patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
  • Room patients, accurately collect and record patients’ vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
  • Prepare exam rooms, stock and maintain supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Effectively assist with prescriptions refill requests.
  • Triage messages, route and relay information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed notes in patients’ electronic records.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance to HIPAA standards.
  • Effectively maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times.
  • Back up infusion room medical assistant duties (venipuncture, injections, vitals, etc.).
  • Effectively perform other duties as assigned.
