About The Position

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, offering a multitude of care options and opportunities for staff to learn and specialize. The Medical Assistant III, under the direction of management and physician leadership, performs and oversees clinical activities. This includes maintaining patient flow, assisting in primary and preventative health care delivery, and performing technical procedures, lab protocols, and clinically oriented tasks under physician/provider direction. The role focuses on achieving office efficiencies, supporting physicians, clinic staff, and management to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction, embodying a "Service First" philosophy. The Medical Assistant III acts as an assistant to the physician/provider, managing patient care, collaborating with clerical staff for optimal patient flow, and interacting with external healthcare facilities and agencies regarding patient care and insurance. They are also responsible for maintaining updated competencies, being able to discuss processes and workflows with leadership and accreditation bodies, performing front office duties, and providing coverage in other departments or locations as needed. The position requires demonstrating excellent customer service skills and supporting patient and family centered care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a competency-based accredited MA program, including a clinical rotation, or equivalent experience.
• 1 year (12 months) MA experience; or completed CH MA internship and (6) months MA experience; or completed CH MA apprenticeship program.
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 30 days from hire Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 30 days from hire.
• CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA) - AAMA American Association of Medical Assistants within 90 Days Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Registered (RMA) - AMT American Medical Technologists within 90 Days Or CRT-Medical Assistant, American Registry (ARMA) - ARMA American Medical Technologists within 90 Days Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (NCMA) - NCCT National Center for Competency Testing within 90 Days Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (CCMA) - NHA National HealthCareer Association within 90 Days Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (NRCMA) - NAHP National Association for Health Professionals within 90 Days Or LIC-License Practical Nursing (LPN) - State of Michigan upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient flow by assisting and promoting the delivery of primary and preventative health care.
• Performs technical procedures, lab protocols and clinically oriented activities under physician/provider direction.
• Assists management in achieving office efficiencies in accordance with stated policies/procedures to ensure efficient operations.
• Supports physicians, clinic staff and management which embodies the "Service First" philosophy to promote customer satisfaction.
• Acts as an assistant to the physician/provider by providing primary healthcare and patient care management.
• Collaborates work efforts with the clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow.
• Interacts with outside healthcare facilities and agencies involving patient care and insurance.
• Maintains updated competencies, demonstrating ability to speak to leadership and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.
• Perform front office duties to provide coverage as needed.
• Provide coverage in other departments or locations as needed.
• Demonstrates excellent customer services skills and supports the model of patient and family centered care.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Primary Care gaps in care identification, outreach, and chart preparation.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Residency clinic role.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as High level disinfection.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Designated new hire preceptor.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as a role in practice participating in or leading special programs/grants (i.e. CPC Plus, SIM, Vaccine for Child Program, process improvement, service excellence ambassador).
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Care management (PDCMs).
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Qualified language interpreter.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Super User for EPIC or specific competency.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Advanced provider support – assisting with complex procedures and/or infusion/chemo scheduling.
• Performs assigned additional responsibilities (at least 20% of dedicated time) such as Multi-site/flexible float pool assignment.
