About The Position

As a Medical Assistant III – Advanced Skills (Specialty Services), you’ll play a key role in providing compassionate, high-quality abortion and reproductive health care at one of our specialty centers operating 4+ days a week. You'll work side by side with clinicians and physicians to support patients through testing, screenings, education, and preparation for procedures. This role is perfect for someone who loves a fast-paced, client-focused environment where every day brings new opportunities to help people. From prepping exam rooms to ensuring efficient and seamless care, your attention to detail and empathy will make all the difference. You’ll be the welcoming, knowledgeable face patients count on, offering excellent, non-judgmental support with every interaction. Compensation is $24.15/hr to $24.90/hr. Flex positions will receive an additional differential rate and mileage reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant or surgical technician program and 1+ years comparable clinical back office medical assistant experience.
  • or
  • 1+ years of PPPSW Medical Assistant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in ambulatory or outpatient medical-surgical or specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients with warmth and empathy, ensuring wait times are kept low and experiences are positive.
  • Educate and empower clients with accurate, inclusive information to support informed choices.
  • Collect medical histories, vital signs, and other key details to set the foundation for great care.
  • Assist with options counseling, abortion education, and follow-up appointment coordination.
  • Support procedures like 2nd trimester abortion care, vasectomies, and anesthesia prep.
  • Handle POC (products of conception) responsibilities and recovery room support with sensitivity.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing (Hgb, pregnancy, urine dipsticks) and lab work.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked, equipment sterilized, and providers supported.
  • Have respectful, informed conversations around difficult topics like STIs, sexual health, early teen risk factors, and more.
  • Build trust through active listening, empathy, and patient-centered care.
  • Monitor clinic flow to minimize wait times and enhance patient experience.
  • Accurately input and update patient information in our Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management systems.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Medical Assistant Supervisor, Center Manager, and your team to keep everything on track.
  • Jump in to assist with contraceptive services, in-center abortion and medication abortion care, colposcopy, LEEP, Essure, and vasectomy services.
  • Educate clients about sterilization options with care and clarity.
  • Keep up with essential trainings, emergency protocols, OSHA standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Attend meetings and in-services to grow your knowledge and stay aligned with best practices.
  • Prepare the center for opening or closing, helping to ensure a safe and efficient start and finish to each day.
  • Contribute to center-wide goals for productivity, quality care, client satisfaction, and revenue cycle success.
