About The Position

The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of medical services by directly providing medical care and performing basic nursing, medical, and administrative tasks. This role is for unlicensed, certified staff who maintain their certification through required continuing education units (CEUs) from their examination center. MA staff employed by CVHS prior to October 2019, who do not have national certification, must maintain their certification via approved National Medical Assistant continuing education requirements (e.g., AAMA on-line learning modules) to be considered an MA II. MA's hired after October 1, 2019, must possess national certification and maintain its requirements to be hired as an MA II.

Nice To Haves

• One year’s experience in a health facility
• Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks pertinent to age of patient (infancy to geriatric)
• Maintains accurate inventory of medical supplies; assists in the selection of division equipment and supplies.
• Performs all nursing procedures (with the exception of certain injections, triage, IVs and IV medications) as directed by the clinician according to the guidelines in the Nursing Procedure Manual.
• May be assigned lab duties
• Assists in quality assurance and control.
• Participates in the continuing educational process.
• Assists in the efficient flow of patients.
• Attends work as scheduled.
