Medical Assistant II - Center for Surgical Optimization, Wilmington
About The Position
ChristianaCare’s Center for Surgical Optimization at Wilmington is looking for a Full Time Medical Assistant II. ChristianaCare's Center for Surgical Optimization (CSO) prepares patients for surgery by supporting them from the time a decision is made for surgery until the day of surgery. We “meet the patient where they are” by managing co-morbidities and providing education for best outcomes post-surgery. The Senior Medical Assistant Role is an integral part of the care team: greeting the patient upon arrival, obtaining medication history, labs and EKG, retrieval of critical information such as consults and reports to expedite optimization for surgery, and schedule appointments. Center for Surgical Optimization | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Monday through Friday : 7:30am to 4pm. Will be required to work at satellite locations in Newark, when applicable No weekends or holidays Job Duties & Responsibilities: You will be assisting our clinicians in patient examination and treatment, promoting patient satisfaction through proactive patient access activities. Collaborating with physicians, patients, and interdepartmental staff, you will ensure seamless patient care delivery and fiscal management. You will greet and support patients, record vitals, and perform point of care testing, venipuncture, ECG, and specimen collection. Preparing treatment rooms with necessary supplies, performing quality control on POCT equipment, and completing patient-specific paperwork are also responsibilities. Handling patient call backs, scheduling tests, and performing daily operational activities are also essential responsibilities. Coordinating patient care activities with insurance companies, care managers, and physician office staff minimizes financial risk and maximizes patient care delivery. Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
- BLS certification
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible clinical administrative experience required.
- 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant required
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in business/Medical related field preferred.
- Previous insurance or third-party experience is preferred.
