About The Position

This full-time Medical Assistant II Designated Float position involves performing duties related to direct patient care and clinical direction under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician, adhering to organizational standards. The role ensures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, maintains smooth patient flow, conducts general lab work, instructs patients on procedures and treatments, and ensures timely and accurate execution of medical orders and referrals. Responsibilities also include registration and scheduling, maintaining EMR files, and performing front office functions. The Medical Assistant may also perform computerized physician order entry when directed by a physician and is expected to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), and/or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
