About The Position

Under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician, the Medical Assistant II Designated Float performs direct patient care and clinical duties in accordance with organizational standards. This includes ensuring the completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, maintaining smooth patient flow, performing general lab work, instructing patients on procedures and treatments, and accurately carrying out medical orders and referrals. The role also encompasses administrative tasks such as patient registration, scheduling, EMR file maintenance, and general front office functions. If directed by an assigned physician, the MA II may perform computerized physician order entry. A key aspect of this role is the expectation to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership. Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification in medical assisting from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), and/or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
• Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
• TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire
• Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
