About The Position

ChristianaCare Women's Health at Newark is looking to hire a Medical Assistant I . Christiana Women's Health offers comprehensive gynecologic care in a supportive environment, guiding clients through menopause management, and overall health maintenance. ChristianaCare Women's Health at Newark | ChristianaCare Women's Health at Newark provides GYN services, including annual well-woman exams, Pap smears, breast exams, STI/STD screenings, menopausal care, and basic adolescent gynecology. As a Medical Assistant I , you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
  • Rooming patients, and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Administering injections and medications
  • Conducting EKGs when needed
  • Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
  • Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
  • Scheduling tests and surgeries
  • Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
  • Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Troubleshooting issues with video visits
  • Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
