This is an 11-month work-year position . You will be on unpaid time off for approximately four weeks or one month each fiscal year. The dates will vary each fiscal year and may fluctuate based on business needs. Occasional weekend and holiday coverage as needed. Schedule will be discussed at interview. Purpose To assist health care professionals with the delivery of patient care services and to perform clinical skills as ordered by medical provider.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, certificate, or registration as a Medical Assistant
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire
  • Experience using electronic medical records
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently
  • Minimum one year of experience in an outpatient clinic
  • Experience with and a moderate comfort level using a personal computer
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • More than one year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or CCMA)
  • More than one year of experience using electronic medical records
  • More than one year of experience in an ambulatory clinic or college health clinic that provides Gynecological services
  • Demonstrated good communication skills, interpersonal skills, team-building skills, and professional demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the evaluation and care of patients to be seen by UHS providers
  • Exhibits professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service in all aspects of work
  • Performs department specific procedures and treatments per UHS Policies and Procedures
  • Actively participates in maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  • Maintains a level of knowledge conducive to providing high quality patient care
  • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern
  • Participates in other activities as assigned
