About The Position

Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the provider in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management. This position will be a float between our Primary Care and Urgent Care locations in Montrose, Delta, Cedaredge, Clifton and Ridgway, primary location at Montrose Urgent Care. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p

Requirements

  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment, instruments, safety hazards and precautions.
  • Knowledge of clinical quality assurance.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to assist, interpret, adapt and apply guidelines in a variety of common office procedures.
  • Ability to maintain records and record test results.
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Willing to cover at different locations when needed.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • RMA Preferred.
  • Must be experienced in a physician’s office or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting.
  • This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to use a variety of office equipment.
  • May require working under stressful conditions.
  • Normal office and exam room environment.
  • The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals and other members of the public on a regular basis.
  • The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient electronic medical record prior to appointment and confers with provider regarding incomplete tests/consults or other orders.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking vitals, heights and weights.
  • Prepare, clean, and keep all rooms stocked
  • Gives injections, blood draws, special tests and procedures as directed by a provider.
  • Administers medication upon physician order and responds to medication requests per practice protocol via (fax, phone and e-script).
  • Triages, schedules specialty tests not available in the office, and responds to patient communication within practice policy.
  • Assists providers with patient education and self- management.
  • Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospital, and pharmacies at all times.
  • Provides quick, friendly, effective and empathetic services to our patients and customers.
  • Performs other related work as required.
