About The Position

This is a benefited, full-time Medical Assistant position working generally Monday-Friday with varied shift times, with no weekends, holidays, or nights. The role is based within the Surgical Specialties Float team at the Torrey Pines campus in La Jolla, with a requirement to float to other sites as needed. Requirements

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting
• Previous experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Responsibilities

• Ordering
• Documentation of Patient Encounters
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Rooming patients
• Checking vitals
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Assisting in procedures
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Basic registration and updating of demographics
