About The Position

This is a benefited, full-time Medical Assistant position at Scripps Health, generally working Monday-Friday with varied shift times, specifically within the Surgical Specialties Float team at the Torrey Pines campus in La Jolla. The role requires floating to other sites as needed, with no weekend, holiday, or night work. Requirements

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting
  • Previous experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Responsibilities

  • Ordering
  • Documentation of Patient Encounters
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Rooming patients
  • Checking vitals
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Assisting in procedures
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Basic registration and updating of demographics
