About The Position

This is a Per Diem position - Location will be in Hermiston and Boardman Clinic    Compensation:  Min $20.29 Max $31.27 plus a 15% Per Diem Differential   Practice under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner, performing tasks in outpatient settings as issued and approved. Not triage, make clinical assessments, or exercise independent clinical judgment.   Act as an expert in back-office operations by:   Assisting providers with patient care, electronic medical record (EMR) documentation, charting, ordering tests, handling prior authorization for referrals and medications, and refilling medications. Administering immunizations, assisting with procedures, and providing patient education. Overseeing, educating, and assisting back-office staff in daily operations. Serving as an ongoing preceptor, aiding in the onboarding, training, and technical development of new staff. Attending required EPIC training meetings/workshops. Reviewing charts and confirming medical records and referrals are available for patients. Scanning pertinent paperwork into patient charts and responding to phone messages via EPIC to ensure timely communication. Performing duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Emergency Department Director.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Copy must be provided upon hire.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficient in operating computers, phones, and office equipment.
  • Familiar with insurance regulations and medical terminology.
  • Knowledgeable in filing procedures and recording documentation.
  • Familiar with various software applications, including Microsoft Word and EPIC electronic health records.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
  • Able to provide MA level of patient care; age specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Medical Assisting is preferred, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Check patients into exam rooms and obtain pertinent information, including vital signs and medication histories.
  • Prepare for examinations and procedures by setting up required supplies and instruments, assisting providers as needed while ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization.
  • Maintain and stock medical supplies in exam rooms and the clinic supply area, reordering as necessary following the provider's direction.
  • Respond to incoming phone calls/messages from patients, providers, insurance companies, and pharmacies, referring inquiries to the provider or supervisor as appropriate.
  • Maintain procedural outlines to assist team members and facilitate workflow.
  • Document vital signs, medications, and other necessary information accurately in paper or electronic medical records.
  • Administer immunizations and document details in the electronic health record (EHR) as directed by the provider.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, spirometry, and lab tests as ordered by the provider, presenting results and documenting findings in the EHR. Or other duties as assigned.
  • Provide patient education as directed by the provider, including instructions on nebulizer treatments and glucose checks.
  • Assist with procedures such as blood pressure checks and staple/stitch removal as directed by the provider.
  • Stay current with assigned educational requirements and competencies, attending quarterly and annual training as needed.
  • Be flexible with scheduling, including working variable hours such as evenings, weekends, and holidays as workload demands.
  • Adapt to changing responsibilities and maintain composure and efficiency.
