About The Position

The Medicaid Services Coordinator provides eligibility determination, application assistance, case coordination, outreach, and client advocacy for individuals and families seeking Medicaid and related benefits through Florida’s ACCESS system. Serve as the local DCF ACCESS point of contact, ensure timely processing, maintain compliance with state and federal rules, and coordinate with community partners and providers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in public benefits eligibility, case management, social services, or healthcare coordination (Medicaid experience highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with Florida Medicaid policies, DCF ACCESS Florida portal, and Medicaid Managed Care processes.
  • Strong knowledge of community resources, long-term care services, and the referral network in Miami–Dade County.
  • Proficiency with case management software, MS Office, and electronic document management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to travel within Miami–Dade County as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility Specialist certification, or relevant state certification.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency.
  • Experience working with aging adults, people with disabilities, or behavioral health populations.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Screen applicants for Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care, Long-Term Care/Medicaid Waivers, SNAP, TANF, and other benefits; determine initial eligibility and refer complex cases.
  • Assist clients with ACCESS Florida online applications, document uploads, renewals, and re-determinations; provide in-person, phone, and virtual support.
  • Prepare, review, and submit eligibility documentation; verify identity, income, residency, assets, and medical needs as required by Florida rules.
  • Enter and update case information accurately in the ACCESS/DCF case management systems; maintain confidentiality and records per HIPAA and state regulations.
  • Educate clients and families about program rules, benefits, client rights, appeal procedures, and enrollment in Medicaid managed care plans.
  • Conduct outreach and community education (workshops, tabling, presentations) to increase awareness of Medicaid and DCF services.
  • Track performance metrics (timely application processing, caseload, approvals, denials, appeals) and prepare routine reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Florida Medicaid policies, DCF ACCESS procedures, and federal regulatory changes.
  • Provide culturally competent service in English and Spanish (preferred), and accommodate language or disability-related needs.
