About The Position

The Medicaid Clerk is part of the Medicaid team whose primary function is to complete investigation of hospital terminals to find possible active insurance. The Clerk is responsible for confirming coverage obtained in the investigation process as well as accounts coded by the team. The Clerk also supports other members of the team by requesting third party documents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Notary Public
  • Effectively communicate with third parties
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Have the ability to use the internet and learn databases
  • Have strong investigatory and researching skills
  • Have excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must have administrative experience
  • Have the ability to efficiently multitask
  • Possess a high level of organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Gracious and welcoming personality for customer service interaction
  • Must possess a smart-phone or electronic device capable of downloading applications, for multifactor authentication and security purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
  • Experience with ePACES and LexisNexis a plus
  • Experience in the field of healthcare or insurance plans is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Send and follow up with third party requests
  • Retrieve information from hospital databases
  • Verify insurance by using insurance websites, other internal systems or calling insurance companies
  • Enter patient accounts into database(s)
  • Conduct various search engines such as LexisNexis and USPS searches etc.
  • Assist with billing
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Understand and comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
  • Limit viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum as necessary to perform assigned duties
