The Medicaid Associate Attorney is responsible for advising clients on Medicaid long-term care eligibility and strategies to protect assets while complying with federal and state regulations. This role involves supervising, preparing Medicaid applications, developing and implementing asset protection plans, including Medicaid-compliant annuities, and guiding clients through the process. The attorney works closely with clients and internal team members to deliver high-quality legal services and ensure a seamless client experience. This position offers excellent training and mentorship from the Lead Attorney, along with dedicated support from experienced Legal Assistants to assist with documentation and case management. Client Consultation and Strategy Meet with clients to assess their long-term care planning needs. Advise clients on Medicaid eligibility, benefits, and long-term care planning options. Develop and implement asset protection strategies tailored to client goals. Application and Document Drafting and Review Overseeing preparations of Medicaid applications and supporting documentation to county intake offices, including responding to county verification requests, with assistance from Legal Assistants throughout the process. Collaborate with internal team members to ensure efficient case management, including support from experienced support staff and the lead Medicaid attorney. Analyze financial records to determine eligibility and proactive planning opportunities, with support from Legal Assistants in gathering, organizing, and summarizing documentation, and under the guidance of the Lead Attorney as needed. Ensure compliance with federal and state Medicaid laws and regulations. Stay current with changes in laws, tax regulations, and DHS policies. Research complex legal questions. Communicate with government agencies regarding application status and issues. Maintain accurate and timely client records. Provide excellent client service and maintain strong client relationships.
