About The Position

Client: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) H & R provides a broad range of technical services that emphasize high level architectural evaluation, design, and planning, information engineering and re-engineering, systems integration for multiple platforms and data sources, and management consulting services focused on better information for business decision making.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Science, or related field.
3+ years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or communications.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Experience with digital media tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with federal government communications policies preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop press releases, media advisories, feature stories, and web content.
Create and edit multimedia content including videos, graphics, and social media posts.
Translate scientific and technical information into clear, public-facing messaging.
Support crisis and emergency communications as needed.
Coordinate with national and local media outlets.
Assist in drafting responses to media inquiries.
Prepare talking points, briefing materials, and background documents for leadership.
Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on public engagement metrics.
Manage and update NOAA-related web pages and social media platforms.
Develop content calendars and ensure timely dissemination of information.
Track and analyze engagement metrics to improve communication strategies.
Provide communications support for conferences, public events, and stakeholder meetings.
Develop promotional materials and coordinate media coverage for agency events.
Ensure all communications adhere to federal communication guidelines and NOAA branding standards.
Maintain records in accordance with federal documentation and archiving requirements.
